Two Books By Joe Ortiz Receive Rave Reviews!

Following are reviews and testimonials about Joe Ortiz' two books, The End Times Passover and Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation. Joe’s books outright refute a Pre-Tribulation escape and also debunk the Left Behind doctrines

Reviews of THE END TIMES PASSOVER

Do you know why "The End Times Passover" by Joe Ortiz is riveting and enjoyable? He travels behind the scenes from Greek word to Greek word and skillfully shows how far removed from Scripture some faulty prophetic views, such as pretribulation rapturism, truly are.

As one who has been eminently successful in various occupations (as a radio and television talk show host, news reporter and newspaper columnist, public relations expert, and teacher on the college level - only a fraction of his talents), Ortiz, named as one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics in The US," is equally accomplished in his handling of the Bible. On more than 500 pages he sifts facts from fiction and comes up with a classic work on every important aspect of the end times that every child of God will be privileged to own. My stamp of approval is on it! (10-08-07, Dave MacPherson author of "The Rapture Plot")

Review of WHY CHRISTIANS WILL SUFFER "GREAT TRIBULATION"

Prolific author Joe Ortiz has penned a sequel to his earlier book "The End Times Passover." His newer work has a title reading "Why Christians Will Suffer 'Great Tribulation'" - and, believe me, it doesn't suffer from lack of proof for its thesis! As an average American who loves junk food, is overweight, and doesn't even like to watch when a nurse has to draw blood from his arm, I naturally shrink back when I see a Christians-will-suffer-something sort of book title. But when I look around and observe individuals in our seemingly suicidal nation trying to outdo each other in insane violence, in unparalleled perversion, and even nonchalantly belittling and blaspheming the Christ who has blessed us above all other nations, I wonder how soon the Holy One will be forced to schedule the destruction of entire cities, a la Rev. 16:19. This newer work by Joe Ortiz is only for serious, reasoning, and Bible-following Christians. All others can continue their "Gethsemane" sleeping (Mark 14:37) instead of watching. (10-08-07)

"The reader will find The End Times Passover to be a scholarly sound and profound work that will straighten out a lot confusion surrounding biblical issues related to end times prophecy. It will cause many teachers and students of the Bible to rethink much of what they have accepted as 'fact' concerning the end times. Joe Ortiz has done a magnificent job of researching and writing this important book. This is the book I wish I would have written, and I'm sure there are a few others who will wish they had written it as well," Bill Somers, May 28, 2004.

It definitely rattled my cage and exposed a lot of misunderstanding of legitimate faith issues. Joe Ortiz is anointed with a fresh, if not controversial, understanding of scripture that I find fascinating and inspiring! I challenge all of my friends who consider themselves Christians or agnostics or atheists to take a fresh look at what he is saying. It could be a life changing event. It certainly will take away a lot of the silly images of what we think is church/religion and substitute a better impression of WHO God considers His people or children of promise. You have been warned- take an hour and test your faith or lack of it. You may go through life misunderstanding the scriptures without benefit of Joe's etymological insights. Read the books, you will not feel your time was wasted! (April 18, 2007)

"Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation" is one of the best short books on end times prophecy, and is an excellent rebuttal to the prevalent pre-tribulation rapture teaching. Mr. Ortiz was saved in 1975, and was “indoctrinated” with the Pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine; but after a few years of study he realized that the Pre-trib position was only substantiated by inaccurately translating certain Greek words. So, with a background as a teacher, school administrator, and broadcast journalist, he spent over 20 years researching and writing in order to unlock the mysteries of eschatology; resulting in what would become this book, and the second volume. He believes the various eschatological positions today do not fully reveal God’s true redemption plan for mankind.

This is not just another book on bible prophecy, it presents unique insights and exegesis, some of which is found in no other book. The author studied all the end time views, he studied Hebrew and Greek word definitions, and many different commentaries in order to better understand what God intended to say in his Word. He goes into great detail explaining the word meanings and how this view or that one errors in this or that point, in this or that verse.

Because of the length of this book, actually two volumes, everyone that reads it will find things they disagree with, but they will also find much to enrich their understanding of specific passages and their overall knowledge of Bible prophecy.

This book is not a casual read for the beginner, but is more like a commentary and reference work that deals mainly with the Rapture, the Millennium, the Great Tribulation, and who the Church and the Bride are. As a result of his research, he does not completely agree with any of the existing camps. He believes we will go through the tribulation, but we will be protected like Moses and the Israelites at the first Passover when the plagues of Egypt were poured out.

Many Bible teachers have their minds already made up, so they will ignore this book, but they do so to their detriment. Everyone who plans to spend time doing an in-depth study of Bible prophecy should read this book. Your study will be incomplete without it. Be aware, however, that he is wordy, probably because he wants to provide lots of evidence to backup his views. Sometimes a lot of evidence is required to overcome long established, but wrong view points.

I too spent over 20 years doing the very same in-depth study and came to many of the same conclusions that Mr. Ortiz did. If I had this book to read at the start it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. I just published my own similar conclusions in Apocalypse Fire, but it also covers all the end time prophecies, seals, trumpets, etc.

I want to let you know that I carried End Time Passover with me during my recent two-week trip across the Caribbean. I read it on every flight. It is an awesome work! You confirm many things the Holy Spirit has taught me, although I haven’t done the extensive research that you completed on the meaning of specific words. For example, the Lord revealed to me years ago that New Jerusalem is the bride of Christ. I want to commend you on the excellent research. We need to have you back on the (TruNews.com) program in the near future. (Rick Wiles 6/13/07)

Former Gang Members From Throughout
The Nation Plan to March Against Violence

LOS ANGELES ~ In an effort to halt the increase in violence and drug abuse by inner-city youth, former gang members and ex-addicts from throughout the nation will be staging a protest march against violence in downtownt 4, 2007.

Spearheaded by Victory Outreach International, a forty-year old anti-gang, anti-drug Christian organization, some ten-thousand of its members and others will begin the three-mile march beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the Los Angeles Convention Center to the steps of Los Angeles City Hall. The march will end at the city hall's South Lawn where a massive rally will begin at 11:30 a.m., featuring speeches by former gang members, clergy and various elected officials.

"Our goal is to let America know that we plan to take back our streets and bring drug abuse and gang violence to a screeching halt," said Philip LaCrue, spokesperson for Victory Outreach International.

LaCrue said that most Americans are primarily (and rightly) concerned about the Iraq war and illegal immigration, but they have lost focus on the drug abuse and gang violence that plagues inner-cities throughout the nation. LaCrue said that many local and state elected officials have been be invited to participate at the rally, including Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Representatives of Victory Outreach International are available for pre-event interviews in both Spanish and English. Please contact Philip LaCrue at (909) 599-4437 x 112

Are You Worried About Terrorists?
Oh Ye of Little Faith!
By
Joe Ortiz

The positional status debate between Christians and nonbelievers has been raging for centuries, with Christians believing that God has ordained the church with the responsibility to not only spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world, but to also bring about a moral world through America’s version of Christianity, personified through a government of democracy.

Most right wing evangelicals (primarily an American phenomenon) believe they should be aggressive in their belief that they have been bestowed a special honor by God, that of possessing supreme power ordained by God (manifest destiny) to police the entire world of all wrongs. They join America’s leaders who claim that they will bring liberty and justice for all through their concept of democracy. George W. Bush has presented this mantra to the citizens of the United States, and for the most part has convinced the Christian Church to wholeheartedly support what Mr. Bush calls a “Just War.”

The marketing of a “just War” (primarily by the neocons who control most media) have propagated a campaign of fear, based primarily on 911, with an incessant pounding that the Muslim (Arab) religion seeks to dominate the entire world. We see daily news reports that the entire nation of Islam (not just Al-Qaeda) seeks to destroy what it calls “The Great Satan” The more that George W. Bush beats that specific drum (almost six years after 911), the longer he feels he can control the events of the world, which appears to scholars and Liberal pundits to be solely an imperialistic mission.

The unfortunate aspect to this scenario is how easily the Christian church (primarily right wing evangelicals) has been led by the nose to not only support George W. Bush’s policies, many Christian leaders (such as dispensationalist, premillennialist, Pre-Tribulation Rapture promoters, John Hagee, Tim LaHaye, Hal Lindsey, et al) are in the forefront of this movement.

One of the most important aspects of Christians is their strong belief systems, who proudly proclaim that God is on their side. Most certainly, God does respond to those who believe in Him and through the redeeming act of Jesus Christ’ execution and resurrection, which provides them with eternal salvation. What mystifies this author is that while eternal salvation has now been provided them, there exists a glaring lack of faith that God can protect His chosen children through any ordeal without the use of military force.

Many of today’s evangelicals proclaim that God approves just wars as cited in the Old Testament. True, God allowed various Kings throughout history to go to war, and in some cases even ordered Israel to wipe out certain nations. We can research these instances and probably find deeper explanations as to why God allowed (or ordered) Israel to slaughter millions of its enemies. But, for certain, God has never endorsed wars or murder as is best personified in the New Testament.

Right Wing evangelicals always quote Romans 13 as their proof that not only God approves “Just Wars,” but that they are justifiable in many instances (such as Pearl Harbor), but that Christians have a responsibility to bear arms to defend their country. Romans 13 most assuredly states that everyone must submit themselves to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves; for rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you; for he (the leader of a government) is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Therefore, it is necessary to submit [actually it is calling for a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden] to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

For those who have done extensive study of this chapter (Romans 13), it pretty much claims that (it is true) if someone breaks the law they deserve punishment. It also asks that we should seek justice, pray for our leaders and show them proper respect. But it doesn’t state that Christians are to bear arms and propagate violence against another person or state. It also does not claim that God has chosen one specific nation to police the entire world! It’s the responsibility of each respective nation to govern through justice.

If Al-Qaeda is responsible for 911, it was the US Government’s role to hunt, find and punish those specific perpetrators of 911. Simply because George W. Bush launched a “War on Terror” did not give the US authority (moral or otherwise) to attack a specific country (such as Iraq) as part of its overall scheme to fight terrorism. The mantra of we need to kill terrorist in Iraq to prevent terrorists from coming to America to attack its citizens is a political stretch intended to strike fear in its citizens. Most assuredly, terrorists have snuck into this country and perpetrated various acts of terrorism, but our government has the responsibility to follow and hunt down each specific case of terrorism as local police responds to individual (or group) acts of crime. A police chief in a city in Texas does not go to a city in Michigan to willy nilly attack gang bangers who fit the description of gang bangers in his own city. Each criminal case has to be solved on its own merit. That’s the American way!

But, even more important, where is the faith of the Christian community to not only have God provide us with clues as to the whereabouts of individual perpetrators, but to intervene and protect His people before acts of terror, murder, rape, mayhem and robbery begin?

I’m reminded of a story in the Bible (2 Kings, Chapter 1), concerning the prophet Elijah and Ahaziah, the newly installed King of Israel. Ahaziah was a bad ruler who served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

It appears that after Ahab's death, the nation of Moab rebelled against Israel. It seems that Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, "Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury." This was Ahaziah’s first mistake. He chose to trust another council besides God Himself!

As the story goes, an angel of the LORD said to one of his great prophets, Elijah the Tishbite, "Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?

Therefore this is what the LORD says: 'You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!' When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, "Why have you come back?" "A man came to meet us," they replied. "And he said to us, 'Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, "This is what the LORD says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending men to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!" The king asked them, "What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?" They replied, "He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist." The king said, "That was Elijah the Tishbite."

Then he sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him, "Man of God, the king says, 'Come down!' Elijah answered the captain, "If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!" Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men. At this the king sent to Elijah another captain with his fifty men. The captain said to him, "Man of God, this is what the king says, 'Come down at once!' ""If I am a man of God," Elijah replied, "may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!"

Then the fire of God fell from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men. So the king sent a third captain with his fifty men. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah. "Man of God," he begged, "Please have respect for my life and the lives of these fifty men, your servants! “See, fire has fallen from heaven and consumed the first two captains and all their men. But now have respect for my life!"

The angel of the LORD said to Elijah, "Go down with him; do not be afraid of him." So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king. He told the king, "This is what the LORD says: Is it because there is no God in Israel for you to consult that you have sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Because you have done this, you will never leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!" So he died, according to the word of the LORD that Elijah had spoken.

Obviously, Elijah was a man of great faith! Obviously the God of the Old Testament responded to men of great faith for his protection.

There are numerous accounts throughout the bible that demonstrate that God has the power, He does and can protect his people, those who truly do believe in Him. The Bible is replete with stories where God protected His children, regardless of the circumstances, including Noah in the Ark, Daniel in the lions’ den, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego in the fiery furnace and countless other examples where God has protected His people.

But, today, those Christians who believe the United States of America has the moral authority to police the world sadly have such little faith that God can protect this country and its faithless citizens. Instead, they promote and encourage a strong military force, and beat the drums for this nation to pursue aggressive action and military might against their real or perceived enemies.

Scoffers will say, “Yea, but that was back in Old Testament times.” It would be sheer folly in these troubled times not to have a strong military force to protect its citizens.” Some Christians will say that “many in America do not believe in God and they have the right to build a might military force to protect itself.”

So be it, fellow Christians! Put God to the side, ye men of faith! Trust the gods of worldly kingdoms to protect you and fight the battles of the world!

But, please, please, please, don’t use God’s name to endorse your political and military action. For those who deeply recognize that true Christians need to abide by the precepts of the Kingdom of God, a God who does answer prayer, quit trying to rationalize the use of military strength to protect American citizens from bogeyman Jihadists that supposedly are lurking behind every nook and cranny of the world. Also, quit trying to moralize the world (in the name of God) by pointing fingers at abortionists, gay people, the ACLU and those who attack God and His children. Those issues are God’ battle! His war! He asks us to walk upright in all we do; patiently loving, caring, forgiving and serving the less fortunate, and to consistent prayer for all of our needs!

Therefore, pull yourself away from the TV set, newspaper, Internet and radio, in search of news as to how we are winning a war against our enemies; then go to your prayer closet and ask God (like Elijah did) to protect us from (and slay) our enemies.

If you truly claim to be a child of God, then you must be a person of faith. If our leaders (Congressmen, Senators and even our President) believe in God, then why do we accept the propaganda of fear? If we have such great faith, than who better to trust than our God, the God of Elijah, the God of Daniel, Noah, Gideon, David, Shadrach, Meshaq and Abednego, and all the other saints throughout history that have been protected by such a great God?

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Book Review of "Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation" by Joe Ortiz
Book Review by Richard Deem

Why Christians Will Suffer "Great Tribulation" is Joe Ortiz's sequel to His book, The End Times Passover, which will be reviewed separately. Mr. Ortiz makes the point that "The" Great Tribulation is actually not mentioned in the Bible. The definite article "the" is not part of Matthew's description of end times tribulation events. So, Christians will suffer great tribulation in the end times, although it will vary from the tribulation the saints have received throughout recorded history only by degree to which the saints will be persecuted. Many Bible teachers are claiming that end times Christians will escape tribulation and be raptured prior to these events (often referred to as "pre-tribulation rapture" or "pre-trib rapture"). Since Christians are not destined for wrath, why would God put us through great tribulation?

Mr. Ortiz first makes the point that Jesus told us that we would suffer tribulation and persecution because of His name. Since the original apostles were all martyred for their faith (except John), why should we expect to escape unscathed? Many examples of tribulation are described within the passages of scripture, including the tribulations of Paul, and warnings from Paul and Jesus that believers would experience tribulation. This tribulation would increase greatly immediately before the return of Jesus Christ.

Why would God put His people through tribulation at all? It is clear from the New Testament that God wants His people to testify to others of His Son, and His gift of salvation through faith in Him. Under intense persecution, early Christianity spread over much of the Middle East, western Asia, and Europe. Just prior to the return of Jesus, persecution of the saints will increase greatly, yet the gospel will be preached over the entire world. Although some of the saints will be executed for their faith, others will be brought before government authorities to witness to them. Although the suffering of tribulation seems to be bad, the Bible tells us that this tribulation produces endurance and perseverance, "so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." Christians should be prepared to endure persecution during the end times, lest they be discouraged and fall away from the faith.

"Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation" is one of the best short books on end times prophecy, and is an excellent rebuttal to the prevalent pre-tribulation rapture teaching. The text is written in an easy to read style, yet cites the relevant scriptures to back up its interpretations. The book has changed the way I look at some end times events, and has clarified my picture of the end times. It is highly recommended reading for those interested in end time's interpretations."

Book’s Sequel Cites Explicit Evidence that
Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation

[Author Makes Appeal to Other Authors to Hold
Conferences to Discuss Varying Interpretations]

The sequel to a book written by a former Los Angeles-based radio and television talk show host, which challenged the doctrine of a Pre-Tribulation Rapture to Heaven, is now available to the public. Published by Author House, Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation is the sequel to The End Times Passover, written by Joe Ortiz.

“No Christian wants to imagine he or she will be persecuted,” stated Ortiz, who spent over 20 years researching and writing his books. Ortiz stated he provides unequivocal biblical evidence that there will be no secret escape to Heaven while the world experiences Armageddon. “Unfortunately, a large majority of evangelicals do not believe they will go through any great tribulation, believing instead that God will provide them an escape through what they call the Rapture.”

He said that obviously those who have also written books on this subject feel their evidence is more correct than others. But Ortiz said he doesn’t make that claim. However, he does support organizing a conference to bring together all of those who have opposing or varying doctrines (such as John Hagee, Tim LaHaye, Hal Lindsey, et al), for the sole purpose of examining their respective evidence and mutually agreeing on what is myth or what is true facts.

Ortiz said he wrote the books because he is concerned for those who believe in a Pre-Tribulation escape to Heaven. He stated he believes his books not only provide this truth, and clearly explain why they will be persecuted, “But they also provide us with the spiritual wisdom to be prepared for the eventuality of great tribulation.”

WHY CHRISTIANS WILL SUFFER GREAT TRIBULATION
Category: News and Politics

Hi Folks:

As you know, my first book (The End Times Passover, An Etymological Challenge to Millenarian Doctrines) has been on sale for several months. What you didn't know was that my original manuscript was published into two books, due to the length. I'm proud to announce that the 2nd portion went on sale today. That book is entitled "Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation, the sequel to The End Times Passover."

While the 1st book is selling at $24.95, you can purchase the 2nd book directly from my publisher for only $9.90. Actually, the 2nd book is more profound than the 1st. The reason is that while the 1st book demystified the Pre-Tribulation Rapture, the 2nd one presents biblical information that proves Christians will suffer great tribulation, and shows you the reasons why.
